Abstract

Today, in the field of translation, both Man and technology are involved. Global economy of technology-driven has provided greater advantages to all nations and individuals of the world. Similarly, the field of translation is not an exception. Machine translation has been created and has been established. It was borne out of technological advancement in translation as a means of multilingual communication, following the centuries that ended the era of ‘’End of Work Society’’ and the introduction of Information Technology and Computer Industries. It is imperative, to relate that the essence of man who created machines through science and technology is for him to live, survive and provide for his needs. Man, now lives in an age where He virtually depends on machines to perform most of his activities. One even wonders about the great benefits that this technology has bestowed to mankind; to the extent that one would think whether man can survive without them. The main agenda of a translation work is for a translator to establish an equivalent sensation of the source language (SL) into the target language (TL). But the question is: Does machine has the capacity to translate like man/translator? If it does, does its translation acceptable? This article focuses on an evolutionary change in translation; on how translation metamorphose into Machine Translation then, how machine unlike man does its translation work. Using Ivir Vladimir’s theory, the article, poise at examining the level of fidelity, acceptability, of delivering an equivalent sensation by both man and machine.
